Welcome to Reservoir HAWGS Baits

Reservoir HAWGS Musky Lures is the brainchild of me, Shawn.

In the fall of 2014, I awoke one morning after having had a dream in which I was the bait maker for a company called Reservoir HAWGS. I immediately contacted my buddy to tell him about my dream, to which his immediate response was, “That's actually not that bad...”

And so with one text message and a little tinkering in the woodshop later that evening, that dream was literally turned into a reality. Now, years and several designs later, my goal is still very simple... Make awesome musky baits that not only would I like to use, but hopefully countless other musky fishermen as well.

The Reservoir HAWGS store is still in development, so until that goes live, all baits will be sold by placing an order through email, or when I've got extra inventory, through my personal eBay page located HERE. As inventory becomes available I'll try to list them on this site, as well as on eBay, so be sure to check back frequently. About the Baits

The wood species used for each bait may vary every so often (I like to experiment), but for the most part Grade-A Clear Western Red Cedar is used. This wood has an even, knot-free grain which allows for consistency in action from bait to bait. Every bait is hand crafted, hand painted and tank tested. Magnum components and 5/0 heavy weight treble-hooks are used to ensure that each bait is over-built and trophy musky ready.

The Bait Maker

I’ve been working with wood in one way or another for the last 20 years or so. I’ve done everything from framing houses, to cabinetry, to building my own floor standing high-end custom speakers... And now I’ve turned my skills toward musky baits. The bait making started with my tinkering around my woodshop with some pine and my lathe... An hour or so later, the first iteration of the Wedge was born. Now it has turned into a full-on obsession. If it's not a bait that I'd use myself, then it never leaves the shop.

In addition to aspiring to become a master baiter, I’m also an avid outdoorsman… I love bow hunting and fishing for muskies every chance I can get. I’m a God fearing, gun toting, family man that loves his woman and his son. So, now that we're done with my personal ad, please... Go enjoy my baits!

The Baits

The Wedge

This is the bait that started it all. The Wedge is a classic dive and rise erratic style jerkbait. It comes in both a weighted and unweighted version as well as both the standard 10" size and the smaller style, "The Wedgie." Click here to see it in action.

The Mynock

When it's not chewing on the power cables, this little glide is busy catching fish. The body style is modeled after smaller baitfish type forage and has an erratic side-to-side with belly roll action. Quick constant pulls of the rod tip bring the bait to life. Click here to see it in action.

Ham SoLow

Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good glide-bait at your side. Ham SoLow is your classic drop belly glider. When left on the pause, the bait will slowly drop to the depth of your choice. Light taps of the rod will entice the fish of 10,000 casts... Never tell this one the odds!

The Wookie

Another deep running glide-bait. The Wookie is similar in use to the Ham SoLow but is a larger, leaner, and meaner glide-bait. Designed to provide wider, more exaggerated turns with the tap of the rod.

A "walk-the-hawg" topwater style bait.

Boba Fatt

Another version of the dive and rise style jerkbaits. This bait is similar in design to the Suick, but with a rounder more pork-belly body. Oh yeah -- This PIG will hunt! Click here to see it in action.
